IZHAAR, the Debating society is one of the most persistent societies of the College .It was formed in the session 2017-18.The society was active throughout the session under the Convenership of Dr. Anil Rai, Associate Professor, Department of Hindi. DEBSOC organized an Intra College Debate Competition on the topic “Student’s Politics should be Banned from College / University Campus” on Friday, 26th October 2018. The society also organized an Inter-College Debate Competition on the topic “Social Media is Deluding our Minds and Culture” on Wednesday, 10th April 2019. More than 30 students from different Colleges participated in this Competition, an Intra college Debate Competition on the topic ‘EVM is the only alternative of voting in Indian Democracy’ on 7th November 2019, the society also organized a workshop for students on ‘How to improve Debating Skills’ on 19th February 2020 under the convenership of Kumar Prashant, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science. The Winners were awarded with Cash Prizes, Trophies and Certificates.

This year, Debating Society(erstwhile DEBSOC) has been given new colors and invigorated in the form of IZHAAR that signifies its true meaning i.e. “expressing oneself” ,which is the most essential component of a Debate ,under the Convenership of Dr. Ashwani Jassal, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science and the vibrant bunch of newly appointed office-bearers which includes Manvi Saraswat and Shahid Ahmed as the Vice-Presidents, Neha Sharma as the Secretary, Pebam Michael Jackson Singh and Roshan Devsan Senapati as the Joint-Secretaries, Abhay Kumar Tiwari as the Treasurer, Satyam Singh as the Event Coordinator, Mehak Khandelwal as the Programme Executive and Mudit Bhardwaj as the President.

IZHAAR, is a stage of thoughts, logics, reasoning, argument and realization which makes it an out-and-out package of inveterate learning and which provides the young guns with an opportunity to express their extraordinary views, stirring opinions, and firm standpoints.

IZHAAR in its ongoing session has worked in the direction of reshaping its structural and operational mechanism from devising a proper registration mechanism of appointing office-bearers to select the most lively students who are interested to be volunteers and debaters. We have focused the most on developing interaction with students, for that purpose, we have worked upon social media interaction which let the students know what the society is and how it helps students to grow their skills. We have organized no. of interaction sessions with volunteers and future participants and are working in the direction of developing an impressive group of debaters out of them, whom we are expecting to bring the glories to our college.

Now, we are chalking out to organize Orientation, Workshops, Inter-college and intra-college debate competitions in the upcoming months which will further give impetus to our vision of imbibing the inherent qualities of debates in the students.

The way we are determined to nourish this plant named IZHAAR will surely bear its positive fruits in the years to come. Convener of the IZHAAR Committee extends his words of acclamation to committee members and all the office bearers for the invincible work they are doing and are in-line to do hereafter.
