Shyam Lal College was founded by Late Padma Shree Shyam Lal Gupta, Chairman, Shyam Lal Charitable Trust in the year 1964. The foundation stone of the College was laid by Late Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then Hon’ble Vice President of India and Chancellor of University of Delhi on May 24, 1964.
The Evening College started functioning on September 8, 1969. Since its inception, it is one of the full-fledged constituent colleges of the University of Delhi imparting knowledge in Commerce and Humanities to more than 1500 students every year. The College has been in the news for its various academic and co-curricular activities like academic achievements of Students and Teachers, Innovation Projects, Flower Show, Sports, Eco-Club, NCC, NSS and Gandhi Study Circle.
