Date:  29th Januay, 2026

Venue: Comouter Lab 1

Organized by: Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) of the College

Speaker: Ms. Vandana Mohanty, Advocate in the Supreme Court of India

Under the guidance of our Principal Prof. Nachiketa Singh, the Internal Complaints Committee organized a talk on “Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act: Legal Provisions and Institutional Accountability”. With Prof. Archna Upadhyaya acting as the presiding officer, the talk was held on 29th January 2026 to sensitize college faculty and students about the functions of this act.

Prof. Nachiketa Singh introduced the topic and talked about the importance of women’s safety in workplaces.

To commence the discussion, Prof. Archna Upadhyaya emphasized the changing role of women in society. This requires a systemic overhaul which supports and protects their roles in the workplace. Additionally, women must be made aware of their own rights within an organization to feel confident in the professional realm.

Our subject expert for this event was Ms. Vandana Mohanty who is actively serving as an Advocate in the Supreme Court of India. Ms. Mohanty sensitized us about how we could make the campus safe for women, so that they could grow freely and fearless in the professional space.

Ms. Mohanty made a detailed explanation of what constitutes harassment and how to deal with different instances of the same with the help of an informative PowerPoint presentation. She discussed engaging case studies to provide real world examples of harassment and informed us about where to raise a complaint if faced with a similar situation. The session concluded with a question-answer session where students were allowed to discuss their queries on the topic with Ms. Mohanty.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Manu Umesh. This event was a success due to the generous assistance of Ms. Ila Bhushan Jain, Dr. Sandhya Verma, Ms. Anjana Gusain, Shri Govind Singh and the Gender Champions.
