Genesis’26-The annual cultural fest
Organised by abhivyanjana
Under the esteemed leadership of Prof. Nachiketa Singh, Principal of Shyam Lal College (Evening), and the Convenor of Dr. D. N. Singh, Abhivyanjana (The Art, Drama & Culture Committee) of Shyam Lal College (Evening), University of Delhi, successfully organised its Annual Cultural Fest. The fest served as a vibrant platform for fostering student engagement, creativity, and cultural expression. Through events such as the Ignite – Dance Competition, Gali Kheda – Street Play Competition, and an enthralling Qawwali Night, the fest celebrated diverse art forms and provided students with an opportunity to showcase their talent, collaborate, and immerse themselves in the rich cultural spirit.
The events were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges. The Gali Kheda – Street Play Competition was judged by Ms. Anju Bala, Dr. Neeraj Mishra, and Mr. Mukesh Jha, while the Ignite – Dance Competition was adjudicated by Dr. Karan Gupta, Dr. Sonia Singh, and Dr. Sarika Tyagi.
Genesis’26 stood as a vibrant celebration of art and culture, made possible through the generous support of sponsor, Central Bank of India, whose contribution was instrumental to the event’s success. Abhivyanjana also collaborated with Delhi Capitals as there Youth Outreach Partner, bringing wider engagement and enthusiasm to the fest. Pabulum enriched the experience as the Refreshment Partner, while Still Rollin captured the spirit of the event with exceptional creativity as our Photography Partner. The outreach was further amplified by Media Partners—DU Vibe, DU Legends, and DU Buddies—along with Uniqrew as the Community Partner. Their collective collaboration and support played a vital role in making Genesis’26 a resounding success.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Prof. Nachiketa Singh, along with the Chief Guests, Dr. Nalini Kamalini, Padma Shri awardee and renowned Kathak exponent, and Mr. Mukesh Jha, Director of Barahmasa Repertory (Rangmandal), in the presence of the Convenor, Dr. D. N. Singh, and esteemed faculty members. The opening performance by Abhivyakti, the dance unit of Abhivyanjana, set an energetic and vibrant tone for the evening’s cultural celebrations. This was followed by a melodious performance by Suranjali, the music unit of Abhivyanjana, further enriching the artistic ambiance of the event.
The competitions at Genesis witnessed enthusiastic participation from talented teams across various prestigious institutions. The Ignite Dance Competition saw participation from 11 teams , which included Lakshmi Bai College (Swaggy), Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (Funk In Motion), Institute of Home Economics (Eleganza), Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (Spardha), Vivekananda College (Vivacious), Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies (Urban Hopper Crew), Keshav Mahavidyalaya (Advaita), Mata Sundri College (Kayra), Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology (Mavericks), Sri Venkateswara College (Verve Dance Crew), and College of Vocational Studies (CVS Zest Crew). Sri Venkateswara College (Verve Dance Crew) secured the first position, followed by Keshav Mahavidyalaya (Advaita) as the first runner-up, and Lakshmi Bai College (Swaggy) as the second runner-up.
Similarly, the Gali Kheda – Street Play Competition featured 9 teams such as Parindey from Mata Sundri College, Vayam from Shivaji College, DramaNomics from the College of Vocational Studies, Hasratein from Ram Lal Anand College, Abhinay from Maharaja Agrasen College, Natuve from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, Pratigya from Rukmini Devi Institute of Advanced Studies, Moksh from Sri Aurobindo College, and Avaran from Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology. Among them, Sri Venkateswara College (Anubhuti) emerged as the winner, followed by Rukmini Devi Institute of Advanced Studies (Pratigya) in second place and Shivaji College (Vayam) in third place. The competitions reflected immense creativity, energy, and impactful performances, contributing greatly to the success of Genesis.
The cultural evening culminated with a captivating Qawwali performance by Ustad Abdul Hameed Sabri, whose soulful renditions created an enchanting and spiritually immersive atmosphere, providing a memorable conclusion to the fest.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Convenor Dr. D. N. Singh ,he thanked Principal, Prof. Nachiketa Singh for his unconditional support , motivation and guidance during the preparation and commencement of the event. He also appreciated the hard work and support of the faculty members of Abhivyanjana, including, Prof. Kumar Prashant, Prof. Amit Singh, Dr. Nehkholen Haokip, Dr. Shailendra Mohan Singh, Dr. Vatsal Singh, Dr. Rekha Kashyap, and Dr. Sarika Tyagi, along with the President Aryansh Mehrotra, the Vice Presidents Tamanna Uppal and Jas Chopra and all students team members of Abhivyanjana as without their hardwork and dedication this event might not have completed successfully.
