Academics

Most of the department activities are carried out through the platform of Prerna. Department takes the initiative of organising seminars and conferences for faculty development. The faculty has authored books, articles in Journals of repute, edited the journals and presented papers in Seminars and conferences. Some of the activities in the last three years can be summed up as follows:

➢ Orientation Program for Department students at the beginning of every session.

➢ One Day Seminars in collaboration with IQAC of the college.

➢ Two Day International Seminar in collaboration with IQAC on “Mahatma Gandhi in Pristine Perspective: A Sesquicentennial Overview.

➢ One Week Faculty Development Program in collaboration with IQAC on Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainable Development. Faculty members as convenors/members of different committees like the garden committee, art and drama committee, skill development cell etc. have made significant contributions.

Events Organized:

  1. Freshers Welcome Party: The academic year commenced with the official Freshers Welcome Party. This event was designed to warmly welcome the new students joining the department. The evening included a formal welcome address followed by engaging activities to help integrate the newcomers into the college community.

  2. Release of ‘THE PRAMITI’: A significant highlight of the session was the release of the quarterly magazine of the department, ‘THE PRAMITI’. The release event was graced by Professor Yogesh Kr. Gupta from the Department of Political Science at Motilal Nehru College, who was the chief guest. Professor Gupta shared valuable insights into global politics and provided guidance to the students, making the event both informative and inspirational.

  3. Inter College Quiz Competition: The department’s flagship event, the Inter College Quiz Competition, attracted participation from students across the university. The competition featured intellectually stimulating rounds that tested the participants’ knowledge of political science. Cash prizes were awarded to the winners, encouraging healthy competition and academic excellence.

  4. Farewell Party for Batch of 2023: As the academic year drew to a close, the department bid farewell to the graduating batch of 2023. The Farewell Party was a memorable event filled with nostalgia and fond farewells. It provided an opportunity for faculty and students to celebrate the achievements and contributions of the outgoing students to the department.

The Department of Political Science at Shyam Lal College Evening had a productive year, marked by academic rigor, intellectual growth, and memorable events. These activities not only enriched the academic experience of the students but also fostered a sense of community and camaraderie within the department.
