Courses Offered:

The Department of Mathematics offers the following courses and papers under the UGCF 2022 framework:

  • Mathematics as Major or Minor in B. A. (Programme):   The B.A. (Programme) course is a four-year undergraduate course that is offered by the department with three combinations i.e. Computer Science, Economics and History. The student has to select mathematics as major or minor.
    • Discipline Specific Core (DSC): Two mathematics DSC papers are taught every semester who have opted mathematics as their major subject whereas one mathematics DSC paper is taught every semester who have opted mathematics as their minor subject.
    • Discipline Specific Elective (DSE): The department offers DSE papers to B.A. Programme students of 5th and 6th semester with mathematics as major or minor and to 7th and 8th semester students with mathematics as major only. 
  • Generic Elective (GE): The department offers GE papers to honours courses in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th semester and to all courses in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th semester.
  • Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC): The department offers SEC like Basic IT Tools, Latex Typesetting for Beginners, IT Skills and Data Analysis I, IT Skills and Data Analysis II, Network Flows, Document Preparation and Presentation Software, Mathematical Modelling with Excel, Financial Modelling with Excel, Statistical Software ‘R’, R Shiny etc. in all courses of semester 1 to 6.
  • Skill Based Courses (SBC): The department offers SBC in 7th and 8th semester students of B.A. Programme with mathematics as their major subject. Communicating Mathematics and Appreciating Mathematics via Workshops and Seminar are Skill Based Courses.
  • Value Added Courses (VAC): The department offers VAC in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th semesters of all courses. Vedic Mathematics I, Vedic Mathematics II, Vedic Mathematics III and Vedic Mathematics IV are the papers.
