Report on ECOTREES’26 – Annual Economics Fest
ECOSQUARE – The Economics Society, Department of Economics, Shyam Lal College (Evening) successfully organised ECOTREES’26, its Annual Economics Fest on 8th April in College premised. The program was organized with the objective of fostering academic engagement, critical thinking, and intellectual exchange among students. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing various prestigious institutions, including Hindu College, Daulat Ram College (DRC), Miranda House, Sri Aurobindo College (Evening), Jesus and Mary College, Indraprastha College for Women, Shyam Lal College (Evening), Institute of Management and Commerce (IMC), Satyawati College, Vivekananda College, Shyam Prasad Mukherji College, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma (ARSD) College, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, Sri Aurobindo College and Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS).
The program commenced with a formal inaugural session, graced by the esteemed presence of Principal Sir, Prof. Nachiketa Singh, along with faculty members and distinguished guests. The dignitaries were felicitated with saplings, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and knowledge. This was followed by the Principal Sir’s address to the gathering.
In his address, Principal Sir, highlighted the importance of such academic platforms in nurturing analytical abilities and encouraging students to engage with real-world economic challenges. Dr. N. Haokip, Convener of the event, also addressed the gathering, appreciating the efforts of the organizing team and emphasizing the significance of collaborative learning.
The fest featured a series of intellectually engaging events, including Vaak-Shakti and Verbal Verdict. These activities provided participants with opportunities to articulate their ideas, engage in structured debates, and deliberate on relevant socio-economic themes. The events witnessed active participation and healthy competition, reflecting the academic spirit of the institution.

The winners were awarded cash prizes totaling ₹12,000. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the anchor, celebrating the spirit of healthy competition and the new connections built throughout the day.
The presence and support of faculty members played a crucial role in the smooth conduct of the programme. Their guidance and encouragement contributed significantly to the overall success of the event.
