College

Shyam Lal College was founded by Late Padma Shree Shyam Lal Gupta, Chairman, Shyam Lal Charitable Trust in the year 1964. The foundation stone of the College was laid by Late Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then Hon’ble Vice President of India and Chancellor of University of Delhi on May 24, 1964.

The Evening College started functioning from September 8, 1969. Since its inception, it is one of the full-fledged constituent colleges of University of Delhi imparting knowledge in Commerce and Humanities to more than 1500 students every year. The College has been in the news for its various academic and co-curricular activities like academic achievements of Students and Teachers, Innovation Projects, Flower Show, Sports, Eco-Club, NCC, NSS and Gandhi Study Circle.

In the present day globally competitive and technology-driven environment, the mission of the College is to empower the students with quality education, which kindles creativity, promotes innovation and instills ethical practices among them.

Its alumni are serving varied professions ranging from Civil services, Corporate, Academics, Defence to Politics as well. The College is spread over a lush green campus of 29,501 sq.mtrs., offering six (06) undergraduate courses in various streams of humanities and social sciences including Commerce. The College is well-equipped with good Infrastructure, Computer Lab, Creche, PwD Room, Recitation Room, Reading Room with electronic access to different Journals and Books.
